Can I Get an X-Ray at AFC?
Our team is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. When you come see us, we will perform a full evaluation and can run different tests to determine what you are suffering from. In addition, we are also grateful to have our state-of-the-art digital X-ray technology to help us provide a proper diagnosis!
Digital X-rays give us a clear picture of what is going on inside your body without needing physical film. Get all the details about X-rays below from our AFC Urgent Care Easley team.
How Do Digital X-Rays Work?
Traditional X-rays work by taking an image on film and then letting that film develop over time. With digital X-rays, there is no need to wait for the image to develop! Our machines are connected to a computer, so as soon as the X-ray is taken, the image is uploaded onto our computer as a digital image versus physical picture on film.
Since the purpose of an X-ray is to get a picture of what is causing you pain or discomfort, having a clear image of what is going on is really important. Digital X-rays allow us a much crisper and clearer image compared to traditional X-rays. We can also manipulate the image by blowing it up, zooming in or focusing on a specific part without losing the image’s quality.
Common Conditions That Require an X-Ray
- Fractures
- Kidney stones
- Chest and lung issues like pneumonia
- Abnormal masses or tumors
Do Digital X-rays Still Produce Radiation?
Even though the image technology with digital X-rays is more advanced than traditional X-rays, there is still a minimal amount of radiation exposure. While all X-rays produce a small amount of radiation, digital X-rays produce even less! Each X-ray we perform produces about 80% less radiation compared to traditional X-rays.
If you are concerned about a recent injury or are in pain and can’t figure out why, come see us. We offer our X-ray services to anyone in the community who is age 6 months and older. Since the images are instantaneous, we can go over the images quickly with you and provide you with a diagnosis right away. Stop by today!
